It is getting better and better every single day! Frumster Couples

couple photo

Sonia and Daniel

Our story is quite interesting. I saw Daniel's profile after only two weeks of being on Frumster. What I read was just amazing - and somehow very unique. After very short hesitation I typed him a typical message saying something along the lines of "Hi, I liked your profile". In literally a few seconds I got a reply saying the following: "Hmmmm.... this is the first time this has happened to me, but I was just typing you a message when I got yours!"  Needless to say this was a very exciting beginning :)

Our first date was most unusual too. After talking to each other for about two weeks we agreed to meet. Daniel lived in NY (now we both do), and I used to live in DC. One day he told me that he would be going to Baltimore for a Sunday meeting, and I realized that I had a wedding in Baltimore  on that same day! We agreed to meet early in the morning in the Inner Harbor , and then after a few hours I would go to the wedding and he would go to his meeting.

I was originally going to take a bus, but Daniel arranged for a cab to come pick me at in the morning at 8am and take me to Baltimore . To say that I was excited about meeting Daniel would be to make an understatement of the year. Just to illustrate, it took me several hours to pick out an outfit, and I ended up staying up until 3am. And even once I was in bed I could not sleep at all! I must have dozed off around 6am. And when I woke up it was... 10:30am!!! My phone had 27 missed calls, about half from Daniel to see if I was alive and half from the poor cab driver who waited downstairs for an hour and then left.

I was absolutely distraught. Here was something I have been looking forward to for weeks, dreaming and thinking about it and generally feeling like I was somehow magically transported into one of the Audrey Hepburn movies, and I just totally unequivocally blew it! So much for weeks of anticipation and excitement and butterflies - now I was positive I have ruined everything, came across as an unreliable, untrustworthy person who doesn't care enough to show up for her first date.

Daniel was wonderful. It sounded like he was more concerned about me being upset rather than having waited for several hours for a date that never showed up. Needless to say though, he made it clear quite firmly that we were not going to meet later that day, and that “next time I was in NY we could have a date then”.

So that was it – I had just let the man of my dreams slide away without even ever seeing him. But I still had to go to the wedding. I called my friend and asked for a ride. When in the car, I just had to share what had happened to me that morning, and here I think the most crucial point of the story comes up. My friend’s mother turns to me with utter amazement and says: You are crazy! Pick up the phone and call him right away! Say you will skip the wedding and meet him wherever he wants anytime. I tried calling three times, but Daniel’s phone just kept ringing. So as much I hate leaving voicemails, I did this one time. G-d only knows how pathetic it must have sounded, but two minutes later I got a call back saying “I’ll meet you after the wedding”.

So that was it – we met at a wedding and eight months later we met again – in Moscow , at our own wedding. Now it has been 3 months since then, and I can tell you – it is getting better and better every single day. And I just want to thank you and Hashem for bring us together.
