Elyakum sent me the pay phone number... Frumster Couples

Shulamis and Elyakum

I heard about Frumster through a friend of the site owners.

At that time, Frumster was still under construction. When it went up, I signed up.

My husband-to-be was visiting Canada two summers ago when he got a job to be meshamash the Biala-Shidloftze Rebbe who was traveling to Los Angeles.

Because of this he extended his summer visit two extra weeks and decided to spend a Shabbos in Monsey, having never before visited NYC. While in L.A. he ran into an old friend of his from his early days in Ohr Somayach, Yerushalaim who he had had no contact with for about five years and who had spent time in Ohr Somayach, Monsey.

When he made the decision to go down to NY, being delayed by a storm in Dallas, he got on the phone to his old friend to make a contact in Monsey. He was set up for Shabbos by a friend Dovid who was actually on Frumster - a single with a good job who still needs a shidduch.

Motzai Shabbos, as Elyakum was nervously studying maps preparing to drive into the city the next morning for the first time, Dovid signed on to Frumster and entered Elyakum's vitals, unbeknownst to him. I was the first match to come up, and Dovid asked Elyakum what he thought, and Elyakum skeptically said, "well, she looks ok."

Dovid responded to me, and I wrote back asking for details and he sent me the pay phone number at Chofetz Chaim, where Elyakum was learning. As there was no supervision, I declined to follow up.

Several months later, a Rebbetzin who lives near the Chofetz Chaim, and a former seminary teacher of mine, called regarding Elyakum.

We went out ten times, were engaged on 10 Shevat (Elyakum's Grandfather Shmuel's yahrtzeit, after whom we named our baby), and married on alef d'rosh chodesh Adar beis 5763, that was March 3, 2003.

Hatzlacha raba to you and all who engage in this very important avodah!

Shulamis and Elyakum Silverman, Frumster Match #21 were married on alef d'rosh chodesh Adar beis 5763, March 3rd, 2003.
