Laurey and Daniel

I am a South African who had emigrated to Toronto. Daniel is British and was living in Israel. Ideally looking to meet someone who wished to live in Israel, a friend of mine told me to check out Frumster.com.

Within a week of being on Frumster, I emailed Daniel.

(Daniel had been on Frumster for about 7 months, and had not checked his account for about 5 months until I emailed him out of the blue)

I liked Daniels profile because he said he was artistic and so am I. What really appealed to me was that he seemed really well rounded in doing two masters degrees, and I thought it was interesting that he had studied at the University of Edinburgh. He also said that he was good with kids and that he played a lot of sport. This was all on top of the fact that he was studying in yeshiva and loved Torah. I needed someone who felt strongly about his yiddishkeit but was also open and worldly.

(It didn’t bother Daniel at all that I initiated the contact, in fact he found it intriguing that a girl from South Africa living in Toronto would even attempt to contact him!)

At the time I didn’t even have my picture up yet because it was the first week I had joined Frumster, so he only saw my picture a few days later and the initial contact was mostly based on curiosity.

We began emailing and seemed to hit it off straight away. Daniel called me on the phone one week after an intense exchange of emails and we spoke for about an hour and really had good phone chemistry.

Five weeks after our initial Frumster email exchange, he flew to Toronto to meet me. We got on so well from the moment we met at the airport. Three months later we were engaged - and are now happily living in Jerusalem after a fabulous wedding on August 15, 2004.
